  • Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
     

    Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), dedicated to increasing the understanding, safety, and efficacy of medical instrumentation. AAMI is the primary source of consensus and timely information on medical instrumentation and technology

    AAMI provides a unique and critical forum for members who cover a complete range of interests, from clinical and biomedical engineers and technicians, physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators, to educators and researchers, manufacturers, distributors, government representatives and other health care professionals with an interest in medical devices. These diverse groups have been instrumental in making AAMI the leading source of essential information on medical devices and equipment for over 30 years.

  • The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA)

    The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), is a national trade association based in Washington, D.C. that represents independent manufacturers of medical devices, diagnostic products and health care information systems.

    MDMA seeks to improve the quality of patient care by encouraging the development of new medical technology and fostering the availability of beneficial innovative products.

AGENCIES
  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

    The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) regulates the medical devices involved in the collection, processing, testing, manufacture and administration of licensed blood, blood components and cellular products. CBER also regulates all HIV test kits used both to screen donor blood, blood components and cellular products, and to diagnose, treat and monitor persons with HIV and AIDs. CBER has developed a Device Action Plan to facilitate the device provisions of the 1997 Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act and to ensure consistency between the policies and procedures of CBER and FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
